Chris Hovan Trio
For Cleveland native Chris Hovan, the guitar has always been at the heart of his musical groups. Be it his long-standing Generations Quartet or his Organic trio, which sits squarely in the organ/guitar/drums format, the many options made available by the guitar suit Hovan’s muse as a drummer. Most recently, Hovan has been playing in a guitar trio led by Don Goodman, leading to a desire to assemble a similar project that he could make his own. Tapping the talents of Jeremey Poparad, the pair have worked together many times previously in jam sessions and other gigs, and Poparad’s gifts as both a guitarist and bassist have been duly noted via his active performing and teaching schedule. Having made a name for himself playing acoustic bass with many Cleveland jazz artists, including a place in Hovan’s Generations Quartet, Taylor Arbogast has recently shifted his attention to the electric bass and his versatility across genres continues to make him a go-to collaborator for Hovan.
