Some say she’s Dirty Pop, others say she’s Femme Funk. All bets aside, Los Angeles born/Brooklyn based musician has just set herself center stage into the world of Pop and beyond as Sedona. With her debut single “Call Me Up” turning heads, her soulful power bop is more than just a song, but rather, a femme anthem music lovers from today, tomorrow, and yesterday can enjoy. Sedona grew up singing in the shower to leading female pop icons like Diana Ross, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Stevie Nicks, Sade - the list goes on and on. Their aesthetic broke a lot of social barriers for women, inspiring Sedona to do the same.
Her debut single “Call Me Up,” is about knowing your own worth and making others feel empowered. Combining her favorite R&B grooves from The Dramatics and Isley Brothers with a sprinkle of Jazz Fusion delight from Carlos Santana, she’s been addicted to music that makes you want to get up and move ever since she can remember hearing it. Aside from her pop and funk influences, Sedona’s roots have been buried in lullaby rock bands like The Beach Boys, Steely Dan, Steve Miller Band, and The Velvet Underground. Her self-written and self-directed music video embodies how close she holds all of her work to her heart. With her music Sedona aims to be political while remaining personal to create a longstanding balancing act between power and play. The rest of her EP, Home Before Dawn, is set to come out in Summer 2018. Having a songwriter mama and piano tuner/jazz photographer for a father, there was never a quiet moment for Sedona, and she’d like to keep it that way.
