Rising artist John Newhall has had a successful start to his music career so far. In November 2023, he started getting serious about pursuing his dream in music and began releasing a string of singles. After thousands of streams, plenty of shows and a real bit of local traction, Newhall realized he wasn’t content. Even though he was finding success, he was doing it alone.

In May of 2024, Newhall called in an old friend, Joe O’Brien, to play percussion for him at his acoustic gigs. An exceptional eclectic drummer, O’Brien added his own musical character that greatly enhanced the sound. Even while playing Newhall’s solo music, the two quickly realized that together, they had the potential for something great. They began chasing their dream together. Quickly, the two added Sean Rogers, a Van Halen worshiping guitar speedster, and bass playing Marco Salazar who accompanies during live gigs. With the selflessness of the rest of the band and not wanting to lose any of the traction or following Newhall developed previously, the group dawned the name John Newhall Band.

 O’Brien’s drumming influence from the speedsters like Luke Holland and Travis Barker, added to Rogers’ love of classic rock/blues guitar, tied together with Newhall’s songwriting influences like Billy Joel and John Mayer creates a sound unlike anything ever heard before.

Since coming together, John Newhall Band has already found its own bit of success, playing venues like Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, the historic site of the legendary Woodstock music festival. The group performs regularly, including originals that the trio of Newhall, O’Brien and Rogers have put together. Going forward, John Newhall Band aims to release more music and continue to grow their influence within their music scene.
