MARO X NASAYA
-
MARO: MARO is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter & producer from Lisbon, Portugal. Graduating from Berklee College of Music (Boston) in 2017, the Portuguese artist officially debuted her career in 2018, having released five albums + an EP. She later joined Jacob Collier on his 2019 DJESSE World Tour, as a part of the band. In those years, MARO has opened for a lot of artists including Jessie J, Charlotte Cardin & ¿Téo?, and sold-out headline all over Europe and in Brazil, Mexico & USA.
In 2020, "ITSAME, MARO!" was born, a project dedicated to promoting collaboration at a distance. The series includes 100 episodes with artists from all sorts of musical genres, such as Eric Clapton, Lennon Stella, The Paper Kites, Pablo Alborán, Lizzy McAlpine, Madison Cunningham, ANAVITÓRIA, Ivan Lins, Vitor Kley, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Maria Gadú, Mayra Andrade, Rui Veloso, Lionel Loueke & many others.
With releases like “PATTERNS” featuring Sara Diamond and “TEMPO” with MARO spanning labels like Majestic Casual, Concord Records, and ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective, NASAYA’s lush sound is home to some of music’s most prominent record labels. His captivating musical prowess has been lauded by media heavyweights like Pigeons & Planes, Indie Mixtape, Billboard, Ones to Watch, SPIN, NOCTIS Magazine, Elton John’s Rocket Hour radio show, BBC Radio 1, Triple J, and many more. In addition to a laundry list of press accolades, NASAYA has landed sync deals with Apple, Amazon Prime, Netflix, American Eagle, and Mercedes. Along the way, he produced for artists like UMI, Fiji Blue, and Royal & The Serpent.
Alongside her musical calls, a collaborative EP with NASAYA was made: "PIRILAMPO". 4 songs that mark the beginning of a sonic world the two artists found together. The first of many releases.
Most recently, MARO has won the Festival da Canção & represented her country at Eurovision (2022) with "saudade, saudade", guaranteeing a place in the top 10. She has also released "can you see me?”, an album that shows a new side of her, with influences from pop, trap, world & folk.
MARO’s latest album “hortelã” (April 2023) is bringing an intimate, stripped version of her most recent songs to life, affirming a folky acoustic presence. Mostly in Portuguese, this album was recorded in trio, with the Catalan guitarists Darío Barroso & Pau Figueres.
NASAYA: Multi-hyphenate musician and producer NASAYA brings a refreshing perspective to the electronic music landscape. Born and raised by the way of Reunion Island – a French island in the Indian Ocean – NASAYA grew up speaking French and Creole splitting his time between surfing island waves and drawing inspiration from classic rock icons like Led Zeppelin and Nirvana. At 12 years old, NASAYA picked up the guitar and hasn’t put it down since. Inspired by the breeze and easy-going nature of his homeland, NASAYA’s signature style borrows from jazz, experimental dance music, hip-hop, pop, and classic rock.
In addition to producing he's been fortunate enough to share the stage with ODESZA, Elderbrook and Tycho all of whom he's recently supported on their tours. He's now excited to hit the road again for his debut headline tour with MARO while releasing their album together.
