"Outfitted with lived-in and loud vintage gear, shaped equally by 21st century alternative and classic rock, and proudly born in New York City, King Falcon rev up raw and raucous anthems with attitude and a whole lot of emotion. The quartet—Michael Rubin [vocals, lead guitar], Joe Conserva [bass], Justin Kosisky [guitar], and Dipayan “Dip” Chakraborty [drums]—boldly break boundaries both in the studio and on stage. Piling up millions of streams and earning acclaim from Guitar  World, mxdwn, and more, the musicians sharpen a scorching signature style on a series of 2024 singles and their forthcoming second full-length album for Mascot Label Group.
“It was important to really establish a sound of our own,” observes Michael. “It’s alt rock, but there’s an emphasis on real musicianship. We’re a tight band, first and foremost. You’re getting hard guitar and really honest lyrics. This isn’t a reinvention, but it’s more of an evolusion.”
Growing up in Queens, a handful of formative experiences magntically pulled Michael to music. At nine- years-old, his old man turned off the all of lights and played Pink Floyd’s The Wall in its entirety for his son. “It’s probably spooky for a kid, but the guitar tones spoke to me and I became such a huge David Gilmour fan,” he recalls with laugh. Not long after, dad urged Michael to “put down the Guitar Hero and try the real thing,” buying him a guitar for his tenth birthday.
“It was the beginning of the rest of my life,” he grins. “It’s like my personality was downloaded from this wooden thing!”
In between spending hours with a guitar in-hand, he obsessed over classic records by Steely Dan and Led Zeppelin in addition to Tame Impala’s Currents. He attended School of Rock for years and eventually founded his first project Inoculated Canaries, stirring up local buzz, touring, and landing on radio airwaves. Progressing as a singer and guitarist, he officially launched King Falcon in 2020. Blown away by demos, Mascot signed the King Falcon in the middle of the Global Pandemic without even mee=ng them in-person or seeing them live. The group’s self-titled debut, King Falcon, arrived during 2023. It racked up north of 2 million streams on Spotify fueled by “Ready Set Go,” “Cadillac,” and “Everybody’s Down.” Inciting unanimous critical applause, mxdwn hailed them as “Best New Artist 2023,” and Guitar World christened them “one of NYC’s most excitng indie-rock bands.” Meanwhile, they packed houses at headline gigs in addition to performing alongside everyone from Des Roc to Sublime With Rome.
In 2024, King Falcon hunkered down and turned the page on their next chapter. This time around, the guys decamped to Indiana in order to record some new material. In the sessions, Michael made a conscious decision to open up more than ever before."

"“I went through a really rough breakup,” he admits. “We were together for six years, and I was going to marry her. It’s life though, and everything happens for a reason. When it ended, I started writing and couldn’t stop. As painful as it was, the songs were worth it.”
Showcasing their progression, King Falcon ignite an incendiary cover of Paramore’s “crushcrushcrush” to kickstart this chapter. For as much as it pays homage to the original, the players infuse their own fresh fire embodied by Michael’s hypnotic delivery and a fret-burning solo.
“I’ve always been a Paramore fan,” he says. “‘crushcrushcrush’ has so many great melodies. I was jamming on it, and I had the idea for the lead in the middle. The energy is a bit different. We’ve got some guitar showboating, because that’s my thing,” he chuckles.
“When you listen to us, I want you to be in our universe for a little while,” he leaves off. “After it’s over, you go back to your regular life perhaps refreshed. We’re getting more introspective and personal. I’d love for you to listen to King Falcon and be in this space.”
