Moroccan-born guitarist, composer, and educator Mahmoud Chouki and Cuban singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Yusa bring their rich musical backgrounds for a special performance tonight. Chouki, known for blending North African, Middle Eastern, Latin, and jazz influences, has composed award-winning film scores and curates music for the New Orleans Museum of Art. Yusa, celebrated for her fusion of jazz, rock, and Afro-Cuban rhythms, rose to prominence with her BBC-nominated debut and has performed worldwide. Tonight, they present “Handmade Worldwide: with all instruments made from cigar boxes and household items mostly created by guitarist Brett Gardner.
