In what has become a tradition, we are honored to have our friend Terence Blanchard taking over the stage at Chickie Wah Wah with his world-class music for the third year in a row.
He was named a 2024 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, one of the most prestigious honors in jazz. Terence has won multiple Grammys, a Peabody Medal, and in 2021 had his opera Fire Shut Up in My Bones staged at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He recently performed his masterpiece Requiem for Katrina at the Orpheum Theatre, so to see him in an intimate space like Chickie Wah Wah with this incredible group of musicians is truly special.
He has composed more than forty film scores, including several Academy Award-nominated collaborations with Spike Lee. Terence also serves as the artistic director of SFJAZZ.
