THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON FOR MORE INFORMATION.

In the early 90’s, when gangsta’ rap consumed the airwaves, and the majority of West Coast rappers strapped on their Locs, Chuck Taylor’s & Ben Davis’, The Pharcyde decidedly maintained a willfully weird vision. Opting to stay true to themselves with their left field but still South-Central sensibility, rap had seen few groups so self-deprecating and so smart, four visionary rappers adroitly able to split the difference between helium-voiced and hard-core. Today, The Pharcyde is still performing and touring the globe. They continue to hone their individual projects and abilities yet carry on the name & legacy in its original fashion. Imani and Bootie Brown still seduce their audience with the same high energy & boyish charm that founded them at the beginning.

In the early 90’s, when gangsta’ rap consumed the airwaves, and the majority of West Coast rappers strapped on their Locs, Chuck Taylor’s & Ben Davis’, The Pharcyde decidedly maintained a willfully weird vision. Opting to stay true to themselves with their left field but still South-Central sensibility, rap had seen few groups so self-deprecating and so smart, a group of visionary rappers adroitly able to split the difference between helium-voiced and hard-core.

Listening to “Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde” two full decades after its release, its sense of timeliness is unmistakable. Every song on the album inverts a hoary hip-hop cliché. With classics like “Oh Shit,” “Otha Fish”, “Ya’ Mama,” and hit single, “Passing Me By,” it is not surprising that it shipped over a million units, garnered comparisons to De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest, and everyone from Pitchfork Media to The Source has hailed it as one of the greatest albums ever made.

Speaking on the passage of time, their second release “LabCabInCalifornia” has revealed exactly how far-reaching The Pharcyde’s vision was. From enlisting a young and then unknown James Yancey aka J DILLA to produce beats, the classic “Runnin” to collaborating with director Spike Jonze (“Being John Malkovich” “Adaptation”) on the video for “Drop,” it has consistently reinforced their steadfast refusal to tread familiar artistic grounds.

Today, The Pharcyde is still performing and touring the globe. They continue to hone their individual abilities yet carry on the name & legacy in its original fashion. They still seduce their audience with the same boyish charm that founded them at the beginning. Now, it’s combined with the knowledge that has been bestowed upon them as men who have taken on, and rose to the challenge of the rap game. The end result of all this hard work is a band that’s still influencing the hip hop artists and sounds crowding our radio waves today and will continue to for many years to come.

    B-TURN

    Hip-Hop/Rap

Brandon Turner, better known as B-Turn, was born in Berywn, Illinois on March 12, 1992. After only 13 months of life Brandon was sent to a foster home and lived in multiple homes until 1996 when his mother, Maureen Turner regained custody and moved them to San Diego, California where B-Turn currently resides.

It was during his middle school years that B-Turn embraced his passion for music and began playing piano. He was also in the Drumline & Jazz Band with his cousin Easton Hutcherson (F.P.). He would often write poetry and was published in 8th grade for a piece he wrote about his absent father.

Transitioning into high school B-Turn had developed a love for rap & hip-hop and began making songs with a close-knit group (Collin K, Nick Rut, Money Max, Mike G, & Nexsan), calling themselves the "Yung Riderz". A year later, the group stopped making tracks and Brandon joined forces with his two best friends (Collin K & Nick Rut) writing songs under the tag "3Macz".

After graduation, the 3Macz left San Diego and embarked on college life at Northern Arizona University. B-Turn’s direction in college was somewhat undecided so after some long conversations, hard thinking, and a year of twists and turns, he realized his passion for music was still alive and kicking. With endless possibilities and potential, B-Turn packed his bags and headed back to Cali to focus on his music.

His cousin F.P. had established his own group "Legal Hustle" and soon after returning, B-Turn and the group collaborated which lead to Turn becoming a new member. After a few shows and mixtapes, the cousins decided to break off and focus on their own group, and "The League" was born.

As a result of the duo's partnership, The League has opened for major artists all across Southern California and created a very unique discography. B-Turn writes, records, and engineers all of his music and recently added producing beats to his resume. Follow B-Turn, young father, entertainer and voice for the people as he embarks on his musical journey.

Years of learning from mistakes while raising a family have finally led to being able to fulfill a once thought of as wild dream. 2019 was full of opening for hiphop legends like DJ quik, Scarface, Mos Def and Bone thugs n harmony. Momentum was halted as covid took over but songs releases have not stopped. I've heard 90s hip hop mixed with j Cole people are talking about mg recent style. The pursuit of this dream kept me going through the darkest time of my life. I pray people can feel my passion and spirit in my music. I've become an onion that needs to keep peeling back layers in order to experience more joy. That's cool I like onions.
