You Fool! + Night Hawk + Milo in The Doldrums
-
You Fool! is an indie rock band from the suburbs of Washington DC. The band's blend of crisp guitars, punching rhythms, and dreamy vocals is so silky smooth you could sleep on it if you wanted to. But you know what they say about sleeping on good music: Don't!
The group began in the early days of a raging pandemic. Primary songwriters Julia and Josh - now husband and wife duo - learned of their shared affinity for music over an impromptu cover of Vance Joy's "Riptide" in a living room. Julia was a vocalist with a history in musical theater and choir, and Josh, a guitarist from small garage and punk bands from the east coast. They began writing music together almost immediately, and recruited an array of talented musicians - including bassist Mayson, drummer Mike, and multi-instrumentalist Greg - to round out the band. The band has released two EPs, including 2023's "Escape from the Circus", which details Julia's past forays in flying trapeze, and they released their debut full-length album, "What is the Meaning of This?", in August of 2024. Their sound has been compared to the likes of 90's alternative legends such as The Cranberries, and more modern acts, including Alvvays, Wolf Alice, and Japanese Breakfast. -
Night Hawk is a D.C.-based outfit led by Colter Adams and Peyton Semjen, whose music often blurs the line between indie rock and performance art. Featuring a rotating cast of intrepid players from the Mid-Atlantic underground, the project revolves around the question: what do Edward Hopper's paintings sound like? Against a backdrop of intricate guitarwork, rollicking drums, and enchanting harmonies, the band’s songs paint scenes inspired by both Edward Hopper paintings and personal experience.
Official headlining: we'll say Night Hawk for the top of the bill, although we'll be aiming to draw and split equally. -
Milo in the Doldrums is an indie rock band hailing from the sandy beaches of northern VA. Tinged with melancholia and uplifted by a love of life, Milo in the Doldrums harnesses the power of music to overcome the despondency of the modern world… and, y’know, do stuff!
